Build-out extension for the ENERGY STAR for New Homes—Standard—Version 12.8 and 17.0 (Ontario) due to COVID-19

Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) recognizes that the COVID-19 pandemic has affected and continues to affect individuals and organizations across all sectors of our global economy. In an effort to ease the impacts COVID-19 has placed on the construction industry, NRCan is granting all ENERGY STAR for New Home builders a 6 month extension on the build-out date for homes already enrolled to the ENERGY STAR for New Homes—Standard—Version 12.8 and 17.0 (Ontario).

The new build out deadlines are as follows:

• Ontario: Deadline for building, evaluating and labelling all houses enrolled to Version 17.0 will be extended from August 31, 2022 to February 28, 2023

• All other Provinces and Territories (except Ontario): Deadline for building, evaluating and labelling all houses enrolled to Version 12.8 will be extended from December 31, 2021 to June 30, 2022
