Solar is still treated as an electrical add-on, bolted on long after the decisions that determine whether it will work have already been made. Roof geometry, membrane and structural anchoring, service panel capacity, and the placement of plumbing stacks and roof vents all shape what is actually possible, and all of them are settled at the design stage. This session sets out the constraints, the avoidable blunders and the questions Energy Advisors should be raising early with builders and homeowners, in both new construction and retrofits. The aim is not to turn Energy Advisors into solar designers, but to give them the confidence to steer the conversation, compare proposals honestly and know when to bring in the right expertise.
