This bulletin applies to all users of the ENERGY STAR® for New Homes Program

Topic: Interim product list for drain-water heat recovery (DWHR) and combined space and water heating systems (combos)

To simplify and streamline the data submission and reporting process of energy-using products, the Searchable Product List (SPL) is currently being transitioned to the new Compliance Regulatory Energy Efficiency Database (CREED).

This transition is taking place in phases, with priority given to regulated products over unregulated products (DWHR and combos). Due to recent delays in the delivery of CREED, DWHR and combos are now scheduled to transition by mid-December 2025. In preparation, both lists of certified unregulated products on the current SPL were frozen on March 14, 2025. 

As a temporary measure, DWHR and combo systems submitted to NRCan before the transition is completed, will appear on approved lists accessible through the links below:

Kindly be reminded that:

• Only DWHR units tested by a third party accredited by the Standards Council of Canada under CSA B55.1 Test Method for Measuring Efficiency and Pressure Loss of Drain Water Heat Recovery Units can be included in the list.

• Only combined space and water heating systems tested according to CSA P.9 Test Method for Determining the Performance of Combined Space and Water Heating Systems by a third party accredited by the Standards Council of Canada or certified through CSA’s Energy Efficiency Verification (EEV) program can be included in the list.

For new products to be added to the Approved List, please submit the Energy Efficiency and Reporting form and the testing report to equipspec@nrcan-rncan.gc.ca.
