SUMMARY:Retrofit Refresh: Best Practices for Existing Home Audits
DESCRIPTION:This training program is designed to provide a deep understanding of the existing home audit process – providing practical\, “boots on the ground” guidance and lessons learned for each building and administrative component; highlight potential modelling challenges; and offer information that supports the work of existing home EAs – contributing to confidence in the delivery of consistent EA services. \nTHE INSRUCTOR:\nLiam Butters\, Owner\, Ecology Consulting.\nLiam is a Professional Engineer and CEM and spent the last 15-years working in the industrial and construction sectors. He has extensive hands-on experience as an REA\, and will share his deep understanding of the ERS\, existing home evaluations\, and residential HVAC design. \nWHO SHOULD ATTEND:\n• Newly licensed EAs.\n• REAs seeking a refresh of the existing home audit process.\n• EA candidates who have ideally passed NRCan’s Foundation and EA (House) exams.\n• Industry stakeholders who want to better understand the existing home audit process. \nNOTE: This program assumes participants have a general understanding of building science\, building processes and materials\, and the Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) EnerGuide Rating System requirements\, processes\, HOT2000 modelling\, and on-site practices\, e.g.\, running a blower door. \nTRAINING CONTENT:\nDAY 1: • Data Collection • Foundations – Basements\, Crawlspaces and Walkouts • Above Grade Walls and Headers • Exposed Floors • Windows and Doors\nDAY 2: • Airtightness • Ventilation • Mechanicals – Heating and Cooling • Domestic Hot Water • Renewable Energy Systems • Additions • Reports • Administrative Considerations • Business and Communications \nREGISTRATION FEES:\nCACEA Members $295 + tax\nCORPORATE CACEA Members $250.75 + tax (Discount code required; Contact info@cacea.ca if you did not receive a discount code)\nNon-Members $450 + tax \nCancellation Policy: A $10 administrative fee will be issued for cancellations before August 12\, 2026. No refunds for cancellations as of August 12\, 2026. \nCEC =  12 (full program completion required).
